Here is a list of common admission requirements for all of the programs listed above:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is the minimum requirement for admission to these programs.
- Official transcripts of all universities attended must be submitted. The course prerequisites for each program must have been completed within the past seven years.
- Applicants from countries where English is not the official language must submit TOEFL or IELTS exam scores.
- A minimum overall GPA of 2.5 is typically required to qualify for the program.
Professors to Know in Online Medical Laboratory Science Graduate Certificate Programs
Dr. Tammy Carter is an associate professor and director of the clinical laboratory science program at Texas Tech University. She teaches or has taught courses in both molecular pathology and clinical laboratory science programs and her teaching responsibilities included clinical immunology, molecular diagnostics, and molecular techniques. She is also a member of professional organizations such as the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS).
Her research on the pathogenesis of chronic wound biofilms has been published in the prestigious journal, Laboratory Medicine. She completed her PhD and BS from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Presently working as a professor of medical laboratory science at Rutgers School of Health Professions, Dr. Nadine Fydryszewski has worked in several hospitals and private labs in hematology, immunohematology, and microbiology.
Her research focuses on comparing live versus web-based education in health professions, particularly the clinical laboratory sciences and phlebotomy professions. She has received several awards, such as the ASCLS Omicron Sigma Award, an Outstanding Educator of the Year Award, and an Outstanding Medical Technologist of the Year Award. Dr. Fydryszewski earned her PhD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and her MS from Seton Hall University.
Dr. Carol Rentas is an assistant professor director of biomedical laboratory sciences at George Washington University. She brings extensive real-world experience to the classroom, having worked in clinical laboratory science for 17 years. Additionally, she has worked in education for more than 20 years. She worked in several hospitals as a medical laboratory professional before switching tracks to academia. Dr. Rentas has taught or is presently teaching online courses in hematology, laboratory management and operations, clinical chemistry, immunohematology, and urinalysis and body fluids. She completed her PhD at the Catholic University of America. Additionally, she received her MEd from the University of Maryland and a BS from the University of the State of New York.
